Light Across the Path
Light Across the Path

I have worked on a small trail around my place for the past few years, winding it through my woods and making it as crooked as I can in order to show off every view possible as I walk it. Some of these paths were first laid out by our mini horse Thunder, who has since passed away, but his trails stuck. This is the intersection of two of his trails, as the afternoon light in the Fall came across it. I started this painting with the thought of creating a more drawn image after looking at a lot of German Expressionists, and then surprised myself with the amount of variation I got in the light after laying in the dark drawn lines. I'm not sure if or when I will use this technique again but I felt good about the results.
