Rain Falling
Rain Falling
oil on canvas board
16" x 20"
2008

I worked and re-worked this painting over the past year and a half and over that time I have learned enough about technique and color to have revisited it again and finally finished it off. I went out looking for the rain I knew was falling, it was dark and smelled of ozone. In a drought you are always looking for the rain and I found it falling across the fields next to our house. I watched as they poured down in areas separate from each other, and never got the chance to get wet myself. The sun was out and shone in spots, the field had a new crop growing with the red dirt showing between the rows. It was a great enough moment to continue working on until I got to this point.
