Slanting Light of Morning

I love the morning light when it is yellow and low and casts long shadows, I always have. Being a morning person, I really feel that I am at a highly aware state of mind early in the day, and sometimes wonder why I don't paint that part of the day more often. This particular morning however demanded to be painted, though the painting moved through several different color casts and styles along the way. I painted most of the tree trunks with a palette knife and intended to do the same with the ground, but I just kept tinkering with the light and colors with my brushes along the way. I tend toward more saturated colors to celebrate the fact that I am painting my thoughts rather than trying to recreate the scene exactly, and this one settled slowly for me.
