Snowy Cedars
Snowy Cedars
oil on canvas board
9"x12"

We get snow once every few years and when it happens I tend to get at least one painting out of it. Having grown up with snow, I always figured I'd paint more snow landscapes, but after having lived more than half my life in the South, I have found I need to take what I can get. This was one of those days that we happened to have had snow. It came down in big flakes, stuck for an hour, and was gone. Fortunately for me I work in academia, where they cancel school and work for such snow events, so I headed to my field when the flakes began to fall and got some material to paint. This view is of my beloved Cedars, complete with the "shadow" of wintery grass underneath.
