Rainswept Cove, 2005

pencil on paper, 10" x 8"

This is one of the only drawings I did in the rain on my first days while on Monhegan Island. The weather was really miserable, only the kind of weather a landscape painter can love. Cold and wet in the middle of July was a welcome thing for a transplanted Southerner too, and this spot overlooking Squeaker Cove was one of the few with protection from the wind behind a few trees and rocks that I could stay in long enough to work.
