This is the third image of this rock from Cloudland Canyon. Different angles and times of day seemed to make it change enough and still drew my attention. I looked at lots of places and rocks, puddles and trees but this spot really got to me. The first time I really saw the potential of it was in Morning Pool, an oil pastel from this same side. Then I worked on an afternoon image from the opposite side of the rock in the oil pastel Bright Rock. This is a view from later in the day, when the shadows were dark and the rock lit as if from a spotlight.
