I have been looking at a lot of older work of mine lately as I have been cleaning out the studio. I wanted to go back to painting the night again, there are so many images that I need to work out of my system that are night views. This painting is a conglomeration from old sketches and as it progressed, it turned into a mix of memories and experiences from several places. Working from a black primer, painting the light, and using glazes as I did several years ago, I jumped right back into the technique and really loved it. I need to do more of this again. Working with a small scale and trying to make big things happen is incredibly meditative. The puddles emerged naturally, the fog crept in almost by itself.
