I saw this while walking along the swollen Kalamazoo River in Plainwell, Michigan. The sun was sparkling on the water, an intense white, and the trees and park next to the river were so green and lush. This captures the middle of the summer in my boyhood, exploring around the river, in the grass in a park somewhere, or just the feel of all of those things while being outside. Being right next to Dean's Ice Cream helped push my mind more toward childhood, but that light, the smell of grass, and the feeling of being near the river combined in such a familiar feeling that I wondered how I would ever catch it in a painting.
