This great Magnolia is standing in front ot the University of Georgia's LeConte Hall. While I worked at the UGA Main Library I would take a lap around the quad for a break, just to get out of the building. My morning walks took me around this wonderful tree after I found it, and I watched it for the optimum moment for the sun to light up different parts of the tree. I took several photos and drew a few sketches and came to paint this view. The background of buildings and buses and streets didn't suit me for what this tree seemed like, a hilltop giant overlooking what might have been there when it was first growing there.
