2008
I got off the trails in Greenbriar Cove the last time I was there. I followed the creek on a bright afternoon, hopping from rock to rock and taking lots of pictures. The light was dappled through the leaves in the canopy overhead and made the spotted rocks even more full of spots. Color and patterns were mixing and the scene was made more heightened by the rushing water through the rocks. I painted this place in a slow process of discovery, each layer of paint helping me to emphasize something else and bring the feeling of the chaos of light and color patterns out.
