My small clump of Cedars are a subject of many drawings, photos, and paintings. I walk past them every day on my trail and see them with different shadows and light, in different weather conditions, times of day, and at different angles. Each view makes a different statement as every limb, trunk, and branch catches the light with such variety that it often surprises me. The shadows of a Cedar are deep and full, with a darkness even in midday. This view envisions the trees as the center of the field, with the grasses almost circling them, their connection amplified.
