I watch the morning light break across my woods from the house. I see it at the treetops, then see it creep slowly down the trees until it reaches the ground. This stand of trees catches the sunrise light early and after watching it for a few months I began to draw it, then paint it. There are so many good stages to capture along the way and this painting changed as I changed my mind about which moment to focus on. I could probably make several more paintings of this same spot, and may eventually do just that, as the seasons change.
