I have been to Tallulah Gorge many times but have never painted it. On this particular sunny day in early spring, I realized that this view was just a perfect image to paint. Done in a much more controlled style than I usually work in, I wanted to show the expanse of the gorge, while projecting an intimate placement that being there on it's edge can have. The bright sun of midday is not my normal time to feel creative about, washing colors out and being squarely in the middle of what feels like nap time, but for this place, at this time of year, I felt it was perfect for painting.
