2024
I watched the morning light on this big old Oak for weeks, took a few fleeting photos of it, and sketched it a few times before trying to paint it. It was one of those images that came quickly but was tinkered with for weeks. Getting the tree right and leaving a lot of the character of the drawing was so important to me that I felt like it was done very early on. But I kept tinkering with contrast and color and a bit of the structure as I kept eyeballing the tree as I drove past several more times.
