We did a lot of exploring the woods nearby this past year, and this ravine struck me as especially dramatic. The light coming through the Beeches by the creek down below really caught my eye. There was something very reminiscent to a Charles Burchfield painting there, and being one of my all-time artists I thought I'd see what I could do with it. I chose a larger scale and set to it for several months. There are some areas ended up leaving much less worked than others and I felt I did more with less than I normally do.
