I enjoy sitting in the back yard looking down to the creekbottom where the birds are busy and seeing the sun slowly creep down the woods and finally fall on the ground. We have some little river birches down there that were really lighting up in the sun. I took a few photos and sketched them as I watched the scene and thought it made an interesting composition. I have watched the light change from my living room a thousand times but never settled on a composition that I liked well enough to paint this kind of moment, but sitting below changed that angle just enough for me. It's funny how much you can learn by just slightly changing your point of view sometimes.
