I find these odd spotlit areas in my woods where trees have fallen and opened up the canopy. I've always been drawn to them. This scene developed as a painting while I was looking at a lot of Edvard Munch landscapes, and felt like I was a bit influenced by them. Rich, dark and colorful woods with a lot of some kind of life energy for lack of a better word.
