I have drawn and painted an Oak tree next to a neighbor's driveway many times over the years. All from the view of the tree and driveway beside it. I've done full nighttime paintings, sunsets, and focused on a puddle in the driveway or the old gate. But this morning walk took me down the path and I saw the path itself as something that the tree had also been towering over. It's an old field road, a two tracker back in the day, that has turned into the walking trail. The passageway I've seen, and painted, never included that tree. It was either the path and the hard road down the neighborhood, or the tree and driveway to its right side for me. I saw those separate two images. But something about this particular morning walk showed me a different combination of elements and it stood out to me as something to work towards.
